The current drought has been building for close to two years and is being compared to the Dust Bowl of the 1930s. Over 60% of the contiguous United States is experiencing the ramifications of moderate to extreme drought conditions. This coming winter may bring some relief with the arrival of El Niño, however; scientists are concerned this may not be enough and don't know when it will end.
